Transfer Students in ADJ

The 2+2 program is no longer available to NVCC/VCCS students who transfer to George Mason. However, students will be able to receive a bachelor's degree at George Mason by satisfying the four-year program degree requirements.

NVCC Transfer Credits Applied to Administration of Justice BS Degree, George Mason University

  • 120 credits, 45 upper-level hours
    • 38 credits general education
    • 67 credits major requirements
    • 15 credits electives

NVCC Transfer Students with an AA, AS, or AA&S Degree:

Students who transfer from VCCS with an AA, AS, or AA&S degree have met all lower level general education requirements (35 gen. ed. credits for ADJ majors). Remaining will be ENGL 302. Requirements remaining:

  • General education: 3 cr (ENGL 302)
  • Major: 67 cr.
  • Electives: 50 cr. (includes 35 general education credits)

NVCC Transfer Students with an AAS Degree

Students who transfer to GMU from NVCC/VCCS are required to fulfill the four year program requirements. A maximum of 18 ADJ credits from NVCC may satisfy requirements for the ADJ major. The application of transfer credits to the requirements for the major in ADJ is restricted as follows:

  • Within the four categories of requirements for the ADJ major
    • "Justice System, Law, and the Legal Process" category: 9 ADJ transfer credits may be applied.
    • "Social and Human Problems": 6 ADJ transfer credits may be applied.
    • " Legal, Philosophical, and Ethical Standards": 6 ADJ transfer credits may be applied.
    • "Skills for the Justice Professional": 6 ADJ transfer credits may be applied.

Credits that cannot be applied to the ADJ major will count as general electives.
