The Administration of Justice faculty have combined expertise in a number of substantive and methodological areas, including justice health, public opinion research, policing, corrections, juvenile justice and law in action. Faculty members receive many research awards from governments and foundations. Please visit our Faculty Research page for individual grants awarded to faculty members.

Research Centers

The department is home to four centers which give faculty and students the opportunity to participate in research that will be used to advance knowledge and improve the administration of justice:

Center for Justice, Leadership, and Management

The Center for Justice Leadership and Management provides technical assistance and training for policy makers and professionals in the justice field. The center's Director, Stephen D. Mastrofski, has overall responsibility and is assisted by the Associate Director, Dr. C. Allan Turner. Read More >>

The Center for Justice, Law and Society links top social scientists with policymakers and practitioners in law, judicial administration and legal development. CJLS faculty and students are drawn from multiple disciplines, all brought together by a common interest in making academe more useful to practitioners and enriching academic research with the experience of practice. Read More >>

The Center for Evidence-Based Crime Policy (CEBCP) seeks to make scientific research a key component in decisions about crime and justice policies by advancing rigorous studies in criminal justice and criminology and proactively serving as an informational link to practitioners and the policy community. Read More >>

The Center for Advancing Correctional Excellence (ACE!) seeks a revisiting of contemporary policies that focus on using the criminal justice and correctional umbrella as a response to a variety of social problems. With an expanding correctional landscape of over eight million adults and adolescents under correctional control, these incarceration-focused punitive policies have contributed to unhealthy people and communities by increasing the very same risk factors that advocates of punishment believed would deter criminal behavior. Read More >>
